
Material Engineer and Fire Investigation
Audits of Fire Safety Systems in Buildings
Matthew Hajek earned his Bachelor of Science in Materials Engineering from the University of Alberta in 2018. Matthew was part of the Co-op program at the U of A and completed 20 months of placement in the Co-op program.
After graduation, Matthew moved to Melbourne, Australia for 3 and a half years. While in Australia, Matthew worked the second half of 2019 as a Materials Engineer assisting in failure analysis, chemical analysis, and mechanical testing.
Matthew then joined an Engineering and consultant company as a Project and Forensic Engineer. Matthew conducted fire safety assessments of multi-residential and aged care buildings, participated in audits of fire safety systems in buildings, and contributed to fire investigations, forensic investigations, and legal proceedings related to fire engineering and fire events.
At the beginning of 2022, Matthew returned to Edmonton and joined Anderson Associates/AlphaMet Metallurgical & Welding Engineers (a division of Anderson Associates Consulting Engineers Inc.) as an Engineer-in-Training. Matthew is involved with material failure analysis, material quality assurance, and material/mechanical testing.
