Oil and Gas Equipment, Drilling Tools and Agricultural Equipment Failure
Michael (Mike) Rees earned his degree as a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering in 1994 from the University of Alberta. He is a professional member of the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA).
Early in Mike’s career, he worked in a fabrication facility managing and providing technical assistance for the construction and fabrication of oil and gas drilling structures. He later worked for rolling element bearing manufacturers providing technical support for Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM), as well as industries such as: pulp and paper mills; mines; aggregate equipment; oil and gas equipment; drilling tools; and agricultural equipment.
Throughout his career, Mike has gained familiarity with welding and materials codes and standards, as well as general knowledge of machining and other forms of fabrication.
Mike joined Anderson Associates in May 2012 and became a partner in the firm shortly after. In 2014, he became a NAFI Certified Fire and Explosion Investigator (CFEI), and in 2017, he became a Certified Vehicle Fire Investigator (CVFI). Mike has conducted investigations such as: property loss for insurance industry clients; injury and fatality for the legal industry; and injury and fatality for provincial regulators such as Occupational Health & Safety.
In 2019, Mike was qualified as an Expert Witness in Mechanical Engineering by the Court of Queen’s Bench of Alberta.
